It has been a while since I last blogged. I became way much busier after taking on more responsibility after my dad’s passing. I have been planning to write something, be it gaming or other matters that I have interest in, but just could not find the time.
I decided better to sneak in a simple post rather than having a long absence from blogging.
Time sure passes by with so many things to do. With many changes from the way I have to take care of my mom and dealing with work changes imposed by top management; it sure is tiring dealing with them all.
Being executor of the estate, the legal procedure took time to sort out. Even after so long, there are still many things to do. It is no wonder that my cousin said it took him ten years to clear out his parents estate amongst his siblings. Having a will really helped in sorting out the estate. That reminds me, I should update mine as well. As the years go by, things change and it would be better to spell it out clearly for more effective execution.
Office work is still ongoing. However my working life will be coming to an end in a couple of years. Kind of looking forward to a good old retirement life and not having to deal with troublesome issues. Unfortunately what one plans, sometimes life throws a curveball and one will get some bumps along the way.
There are many changes that the top management from HQ would like to implement to keep aligned with the latest working trend and attempting to maintain the same corporate work structure amongst the various overseas branches. However, the way they go about doing it seems like an "accept it or get out" kind of attitude with no room for cushioning the impact for the sudden changes in work style.
It causes my colleagues to feel unhappy and demotivates their morale for working. Some may just grudgingly accept it because they may have nowhere else to go. Giving in to the management's undue pressure. And for those that are mobile, there was talk of looking elsewhere.
I hope my contribution would mean something. And the feedback and the resistance would hopefully wake them up that such a lopsided decision to dump these changes without proper consultation and debate with their most important asset, the hardworking and loyal employees, would hopefully lead to some compromise somewhere. We shall see what their decision will be later.
Meanwhile, nearing retirement means I need to keep stock of my savings. Question that arises include,
"Is there enough savings to lead a quality retirement?"
"What should I do when the time comes?"
"Do I still want to get a work extension with the current company, perhaps with lighter duties at a lesser pay?"
"Perhaps look for some other kind of work?"
"Or take on some challenging hobby?"
I still have some time to go. So giving some thoughts to this now and then. But so far, I have not come up with a plan yet. It’s ok. I will cross the hurdle when the time comes.
Meanwhile, I am still grinding on with this super difficult game! Raid Shadow Legends, argh! Why am I still soldiering on with it? The game is so frustrating! The probabilities are against the player. Everything is a gacha system. From summoning good Champions, to getting resources and good equipment. Totally insane.
But that is how the gamemakers make money. From players who would like to get a faster track in getting resources, they would pay for it. As for me, I am just a free to play (FTP) gamer. Looking at the prices they charge for getting resources, no way I would pay for it! It is just too expensive in my opinion.
Besides, having extra resources is no guarantee that one would get the coveted Champions and items. At least the gamemaker balances the game between paying and not paying players. There are some games where paying players get all the suped up stuff leaving all the non-paying players in the dust.
At least in this game, the FTP gamer still got a chance to whack and win against paying gamers. It is just that collecting resources (farming as they would have said it) is such a chore!
Anyway, ‘nuff said.
Until the next post. Keep grinding on, be it life or game.
Cheers!
